Overview
WealthBriefingAsia is excited to announce the launch of our inaugural awards program highlighting the importance of External Asset Managers to the wealth management industry in Asia.
Building on the success of our Swiss EAM Awards, the nomination process for the WealthBriefingAsia External Asset Management Awards 2022 is now open culminating in a celebratory cocktail event at The Mandarin Oriental, Singapore on 13th October 2022.
The categories for entry are focused around these main areas:

- Technology (both in-house and external)
- Individual and Leadership
As is the case for all our global awards programs, independence, integrity and genuine insight will be the watchwords of the judging process, which as always will be conducted by expert panels drawn from both custodian banks and trusted advisors/consultants to the sector.
Having reported on the wealth management industry for over 15 years and being responsible for several research report specifically covering this area, we are best placed to initiate a process that fairly rewards achievement, top class performance and innovation.
Winning a WealthBriefingAsia Award sets organisations and individuals apart from their peers and is a tangible demonstration that they have something special to offer.

Q) Do I/my firm need to be a subscriber to WealthBriefingAsia?
A) No, this program is open to all relevant firms.
Q) Is there any upfront cost to enter?
A) No, there is no upfront cost to enter, but you will be offered the chance to purchase a winner’s package should you be successful. This includes the option of tickets to attend the gala event.
Q) Is the process open to firms that are not active within the Asia region?
A) The judges will only consider submissions from firms that are active in the region. Please see here an overview of our global awards programmes.
Q) How do you ensure that the judging process is independent and impartial?
A) The judges are independent of the Award organisers and the are divided into separate panels to avoid conflicts of interest.
Q) Can you assure me that any details that I submit will be treated with confidentiality.
A) We collect your details and only share submissions with the judges’ team responsible for judging those particular categories. We ensure that there is no conflict of interest with the judges’ team before sharing entrants’ details. All our judges have signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
Q) My submission is likely to be longer than the 1000-word max limit. Would this disadvantage me?
A) We have set the limit out of respect to the judges and we are keen to maintain this to ensure that there is a level playing field between competing submissions.
Judges
WealthBriefing’s global awards program is built on the independence of our judges.
The judges for WealthBriefingAsia’s External Asset Management Awards 2022 are being invited from partners in the custodian banks, technology companies and other service providers. Each judge will have signed an NDA to ensure that all the information they receive in the submissions is kept in the strictest confidence. Further judges will be advised in due course.

Oliver Balmelli
Deputy CEO & Head of Private Banking
EFG Private Bank
Oliver is the Deputy CEO and Head of Private Banking of EFG Singapore. He is a senior banker and business leader with almost 30 years of industry experience. Oliver’s success is based in particular on his client-centric approach and deep understanding of cultural diversity. His earlier roles took him from Switzerland to the UK, where he built up and expanded the private banking activities of BSI’s bank London office. Oliver has since spent most of his career in Asia, where he was initially responsible for setting up and managing the private banking business of a newly created bank in Singapore. Oliver was later appointed as Deputy CEO and Head of Private Banking with responsibility for growing EFG’s business in Asia. As a senior banker, Oliver has led several successful teams of private bankers serving clients in Europe, Asia and South America, as well as segments such as External Asset Managers and Global South Asian clients. Oliver holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and an MBA from Bayes Business School in London. He also has an investment qualification from the London Business School and a management qualification from Columbia Business School in New York. Oliver is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Outside of work, he enjoys running and playing basketball.
Dr. Mario A. Bassi
Senior Advisor
Private Wealth Management
Mario brings extensive experience to the industry as senior advisor driving sales and business initiatives in Asia Pacific for UHNWI/FO service providers. He draws upon his detailed understanding from roles such as global head of business management for ANZ Private Bank in Australasia, where he defined and delivered the strategic and operational needs for the business.
Previously Mario worked for leading wealth managers such as Vontobel, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank, holding positions across a variety of disciplines including relationship management, business and financial planning, training and development, strategy, business development and marketing communications in both Europe and Asia. He was also managing director for Solution Providers Management Consulting, leading its growth in Asia Pacific, specifically Singapore.
He wrote and published his Ph.D. thesis about the supervision of External Asset Managers [EAM] in Switzerland (“Der bankunabhängige Vermögensverwalter: Analyse des Handlungsbedarfs einer möglichen Aufsicht unter Berücksichtigung des amerikanischen und englischen Rechts”), build up/out of various EAM desks in Switzerland and Singapore and serviced this segment.
Shiladitya Choudhuri
Market Head - EAM & Multi-Family Office Business
Indosuez Wealth Management
Shiladitya Choudhuri is Market Head for External Asset Management & Multi-Family Office at Indosuez Wealth Management in Singapore. He is responsible for the commercial strategy, and market and risk management for the External Asset Management (EAM) business. A veteran of the bank, Shiladitya also serves as the Market Head for the NRI (Non-Resident Indians) business. After a successful stint in HSBC Private Bank, Shiladitya joined Indosuez in 2009 and was promoted to Managing Director in 2014.
Shiladitya has held numerous senior roles across three decades managing clients and businesses in private banking, wealth management, retail banking and start-ups in Asia, the Middle East and
India. Through these experiences, he has gained a deep understanding of his network of global clients, their cross-generational investment needs, and matters of succession planning.
Shiladitya was an integral part of ICICI Bank’s initial retail expansion in India in 1999, and its international
venture into Dubai in 2001. In 2004, he played a pivotal role in launching ABN Amro Bank’s NRI business in
Singapore.
Shiladitya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and a Master in Business Management from the University
of Calcutta, India. In 2015, he completed the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD in Fontainebleau,
France.

Trident has been present in Asia for over 25 years and established its Singapore office in 2010.
Sean is the Managing Director of the Singapore operation and has overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of a growing team of over 80 staff. The Singapore team has been named WealthBriefing Asia’s “Best Independent Trust or Fiduciary Company in South East Asia” a total of seven times, so Sean is well-placed to evaluate this year’s entrants!
Sean has held senior positions at both independent and institutional trust companies during his 30-year career, which spans both Asia and Europe. He has advised many international high net worth clients on the use of trusts and other estate planning vehicles. Sean is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a qualified Trust & Estate Practitioner.

Alain Esseiva is the Co-Founder and CEO of Alpadis Group. Alain leads the business, development, strategy and growth aspects of the Group, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Singapore office as well as growth in Switzerland.
Alain brings over 30 years of combined experience in wealth planning and fiduciary services both in Switzerland and internationally. He has a calculated appetite for risk and embraces change, constantly looking at new markets and opportunities.
When he is not advising his clients across Switzerland and Asia, Alain enjoys running ultramarathons around the world, including the Gobi Desert, Kazakhstan and Antarctica.
Kaushiq Kodithodika

Kaushiq Kodithodika is Regional Sales Director for MENA & APAC at SS&C Advent. Kaushiq joined SS&C Advent in 2006, has more than 15 years of direct sales experience in the MENA region and has been actively involved in providing strategic software solutions to the banking and finance industry and is up to date on the most recent Fintech developments. Previously, Kaushiq worked with EastNets and was responsible for sales and key account management of SWIFT and AML solutions, before which he was business development manager for the MENA region at Logical Access S.A, a Swiss private banking software house to banks and wealth managers. Kaushiq holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from University of Madras, India.
Lim Li Li

Li Li is responsible for driving the strategic direction, growth and transformation of the Bank’s Family Offices as well as its B2B businesses globally.
As part of her mandate to enhance the value proposition for these 2 key segments, Li Li is spearheading the creation of holistic platforms & ecosystems from which UHNW clients & Independent Asset Managers can access solutions that fulfils their needs.
These include originating strategic opportunities, driving client centric initiatives, overseeing private market transactions and bespoke solutions, intergenerational wealth transition planning for UHNW clients and family offices, as well as systems & tools that maximise service efficiency.

Maurice Troesch is Head of External Asset Managers, Asia-Pacific for Lombard Odier.
He joined Lombard Odier in March 2016 as a Business Developer for the External Asset Management business in Asia-Pacific. In late 2017 he assumed responsibility for the overall business in Asia-Pacific.
Maurice is responsible for leading Lombar Odier’s intermediary business in Asia-Pacific with the focus on Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. He leads a team of professionals to deliver best-in-class private banking services and innovative
soltuions for intermediaries in APAC. Maurice is responsible for the successful implementation of strategies that support the business and financial objectives; leading key revenue objectives to improve client book profitability.
Before joining Lombard Odier, Maurice worked for a global multi-family office in Zurich before embarking on setting up a subsidiary for the group in Singapore in 2010. His career began in 1999 with a consultancy & fiduciary firm in Switzerland where he also completed his commercial apprenticeship.
Maurice holds a Swiss Federal Diploma of Commercial Competence as well as the Swiss Professional Baccalaureate Commercial Option.
He graduated with a Bachelor Degree in International Management from the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland with a major in Finance and two minors in Intercultural Management and International Logistics.
He studied in both Switzerland and Australia. During his studies in Queensland, he focused on auditing & professional practice, law of business associations, cross-cultural management, innovation creativity and entrepreneurship.
Stefan Wagner

Stefan started his career as a derivatives structurer in 1994 and established the European exotic options trading desk of a leading global bank. He ran one of the most active and consistently profitable equity option trading teams globally. Later, Stefan ran the bank’s EMEA structured products business, where he developed a range of investment products and funds. Over $50 billion of these investments were successfully placed with high net worth and institutional clients.
Before joining vestr, Stefan established a successful fund, specialising in derivative and value investing arbitrage strategies, before managing the global Delta One business, including AMCs, at a top-rated Swiss issuer of structured products.

Markus Wolf is Head of Intermediaries for VP Bank Ltd Singapore Branch. In this role, he leads and develops the bank's flagship business for intermediary clients in the region. Prior to this role, Markus was Chief of Staff, where he was instrumental in driving strategic, operational, and partnership efforts for the firm.
With more than twenty years of international experience in consulting and wealth management at regional and global CEO level, Markus is a senior leader in the industry with front- to back experience and a track record in building successful businesses.
He began his career in management consulting before moving to Credit Suisse and Standard Chartered Bank where among other
senior roles he served as the Global Head of Business and Segment Management for Private Banking and Wealth Management. In addition, he gained FinTech experience through his work with digital wealth managers and his role as mentor for the German Accelerator Southeast Asia.
He holds a Doctorate in Economics from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and a MSc. in Management from the Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL) in Germany. Outside of work, Markus enjoys music and the outdoors.
