Virtual Family Office Fintech Summit 2020 (1 April – 12 May)

A Wall Street veteran and entrepreneur, Charlotte Beyer has been identifying changes in the culture and dynamics of wealth management since 1992. Beyer's career spans 40+ years, first on Wall Street, and then as founder of the Institute for Private Investors [IPI] in 1992. A pioneer in social media, IPI hosted the first online community for investors when it went live in 1998. An Aresty Fellow of the Wharton School, Beyer continues to teach in Wharton’s Private Wealth Management program, a five-day residential curriculum she co-created with Wharton in 1999.
Beyer continues to remain active in several industry groups, and her recent book, Wealth Management Unwrapped Revised & Expanded (Wiley 2017) describes key trends in the wealth management industry, including robo-advisors, the aging private client and ‘women with wallets.’ Currently, Beyer is President of the Principle Quest Foundation whose mission is women’s empowerment.

Carol R. Kaufman consults to HNW families, entrepreneurs and trusted advisors.  Her newly released software venture, Pinventory®, coupled with her consulting service, www.homeinventoryacademy.com, focus on the responding to the need for home inventories, ensuring that important possessions and their supporting information are properly catalogued, securely shareable and easily accessible, anywhere and anytime that information is needed.  Her first software product, InvesTier®, was acquired by SunGard in 2002.  An entrepreneur for over 35 years, Ms. Kaufman’s specialties include public speaking, training and software/service-based solutions to organizational problems.  She resides in Hawthorne, NJ and Otis, MA.

Mr. Reilly is an investment and strategy consultant to family offices and the host of the Private Capital Podcast. He was the co-founder and founding president of the Family Office Association, a global forum for single-family offices that is based in Greenwich, Connecticut. Previously Mr. Reilly helped to start a single-family office and foundation in New York where he was an investment manager for five years. He was an energy specialist focused on options and futures trading at Credit Agricole Indosuez in New York prior to that and started his career at Salomon Smith Barney. Mr. Reilly has spoken on family office issues at many conferences and has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Forbes, and Bloomberg, and currently does a monthly interview series with notables in the family office world for Family Wealth Report, where he is on the global editorial board.

Mr. Sharon is an executive vice president and product strategist based in the New York office. He is responsible for broad business management as well as developing and leading strategic initiatives aimed at driving growth within the traditional product franchise. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2018, he was a principal at Blackstone, where he helped launch the firm’s retail alternatives initiative. Previously, he was a managing director at AllianceBernstein, where he ran multi-asset product management, led wealth management group research and marketing, and was interim head of investor relations for the firm. He has 18 years of investment and financial services experience and holds a Ph.D. from Boston University. He received an undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta.

Logan is the Managing General Partner and Founder of Fin VC where he is responsible for management of the firm, making investments, maintaining board responsibilities, and adding hands-on operating value with portfolio companies. Logan was most recently VP of SoFi Ventures, where he oversaw minority investments and corporate development. Logan has historically served in VC and Asset Management firm leadership roles as a Venture Partner at Light Street Capital, Partner at Formation Group, Managing Director at Invesco, SVP at City National Bank, and Director at PwC. Gregory Zuckerman is the author of the critically acclaimed books The Greatest Trade Ever and The Frackers and is a Special Writer at the Wall Street Journal. At the Journal, Zuckerman writes about financial firms, personalities and trades, as well as hedge funds and other investing and business topics. He's a three-time winner of the Gerald Loeb award, the highest honor in business journalism. Zuckerman appears regularly on CNBC, Fox Business and other networks and radio stations around the globe.

Seth is responsible for building and managing the business, product development, and client service teams. Seth has seventeen years of alternative investment and FinTech experience. He started his career focused on alternative investments research and analysis working for multi-billion-dollar allocators and family offices. His responsibilities included creating investment criteria, developing a robust pipeline of prospective investments, and constructing portfolios of alternative investments for institutional clients. In addition to his investing experience, Seth had a senior role at Novus Partners, a venture capital funded buy-side financial technology analytics company that grew from 15 to over 100 employees during his tenure.

Peter is Founder & General Partner at Kalytix Ventures, and Global President at Strong Room AI.

Before Kalytix, Peter was Partner at Social Impact Capital, a global impact-focused VC firm based in New York City. A top-decile fund producing competitive venture returns, SIC invests in the “Best Ideas in Impact” by deploying an “Impact Arbitrage” strategy across geographies, sectors, and challenge domains. SIC is backed by legacy VCs including Marc Andreessen & Chris Dixon, Peter Thiel, Phil Black, David Sacks, Rob Hayes, Matt Ocko & Zachary Bogue, along with family offices, RIAs, and fund-of-funds. Prior to joining the firm Peter was Head of Business Development at Real Capital Innovation (acquired by Addepar), an investment technology platform backed by 8VC and Soros Fund Management. Peter started his career in Silicon Valley by creating an early-stage venture capital firm focused on high-impact areas of AI application, and institutional investor strategy consultancy, Kalytix Partners (acquired). A leading theorist on private market impact investments, Peter has led research over the last decade on impact finance, collaborating with Oxford University, Stanford University, Planet Heritage, and White Sand Investor Group (Donnelley family). His publications include Impact investments: a call for (re)orientation (2021), widely endorsed by organizations such as the SEC and G7, and Sovereign Development Funds: The Governance and Management of Strategic Investment Institutions (2018), which was published in The Oxford Handbook of Sovereign Wealth Funds. In addition to his work, Peter is a volunteering Ambassador to the Rockefeller family’s BankFWD initiative, which is focused on climate justice in global banking, and a Counsel Member of the Saïd family’s (Saïd Business School) Toucan Project, which cultivates future leaders from across the world. Tom Burroughes is group editor of ClearView Financial Media, publisher of WealthBriefing, WealthBriefingAsia and Family Wealth Report. As managing director of institutional relationships, Steven is responsible for the management and growth of new and existing client relationships with private banks and other financial institutions. Steve joined SEI in 2015 from Private Client Resources (PCR), a consolidated data aggregation and reporting firm, where he held the position of Managing Director, Relationship Services. While at PCR he was responsible for ensuring client satisfaction as well as the development of existing business relationships with the firm's Private Bank, Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) and Family Office clients. Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Albany and a Masters in Public Administration from John Jay College.

Tim has a distinguished track record of building and turning around financial services businesses. He believes that investors are finally ready to commit themselves to mission aligned investing, and that conventional investment management businesses are unable to meet this demand. During the first 26 years of Tim’s career, he worked to develop and lead investment management businesses in Asia, North America and the United Kingdom. From 1996-2002 at Putnam Investments (Boston, US), Tim managed the firm’s investment teams and grew assets from $175 billion to $450 billion. Tim managed the organization through the boom of the late 1990s - seeking balanced business expansion - and through the bust of the dotcom bubble - requiring dramatic resource reallocation and refocusing the business. Before embarking on TILT, Tim built and led a successful social enterprise: Next Street, which revolutionizes how its clients provide capital, customers and services to small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Stephen Harris is chief executive of ClearView Financial Media, publisher of global wealth management news sites WealthBriefing, Family Wealth Report and WealthBriefingAsia; as well as compliance, tax and remuneration-centred Compliance Matters, Offshore Red and Executive Compensation Briefing respectively. Kevin Hulbert retired in 2014 after an illustrious career with the Central Intelligence Agency where he held a variety of high-level jobs in the fabled Directorate of Operations becoming an expert on counterterrorism, counterproliferation, covert action, cybersecurity, and nontraditional operations. From an overseas location, Kevin led some of the Agency’s most complex worldwide counterterrorism operations. Near the end of his government career, Kevin was detailed from CIA to the FBI as the Senior Advisor for Counterterrorism. In 2018, Kevin was appointed by the President of the United States to be on the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, a position he currently maintains.

Robert Kirby most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Kemnay, a single-family office, and was responsible for all investment operations. He brings over twenty-five years of experience as an executive managing the infrastructure and operations of a range of complex
investment platforms. Robert’s experience spans family office, hedge fund, private equity and broker-dealer structures and he has led organizations with operations spanning the United States, Europe and Asia.
Robert holds a MBA from Cornell University and a BS from Rutgers University.  He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Jersey and State of New York.

Timothy Kropp is the Global Chief Information Security Officer at SS&C Technologies. Mr. Kropp is also an Agile/DevOps leader.
In Timothy’s previous role he served as the Technology Security Lead at Bridgewater Associates. Mr. Kropp received a master’s degree in computer science at Fordham University.

Prior to joining Banyan Risk Group – Cyber, Will lead growth activities at the executive level for two award-winning cybersecurity companies. In these roles, he developed an intimate understanding of the unique cybersecurity requirements faced by different organizations, both in the commercial and government sectors.
Will served as an Army Officer with Her Majesty’s Canadian Armed Forces and his operational experience includes deploying to Afghanistan as the leader of a specialized team. He also served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Canada.

Dennis is responsible for developing strategies to help SEI Family Office Services reach new markets, attract new leads and acquire new clients. In this role, he leads speaking engagements at industry events and manages the sales cycle. With a core focus on family offices, accounting firms and other wealth management organizations selecting a technology solution, Dennis has worked with many of the Forbes 185 families and Forbes 400 individuals for over 17 years. Prior to joining SEI, Dennis served as Managing Director of Sales and Marketing at Financial Navigator, Inc.. Dennis holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from San Jose State University.

Dr. Tania Neild runs InfoGrate, an information technology consulting company that supports family offices.  She supports all aspects of their technology from cybersecurity and data integration to vendor selection and performance reporting.  She served as the CTO and COO of Private Client Resources, an aggregation, reconciliation and client performance reporting platform and before that she served as CTO of Envestnet, where she built a separately managed account platform recognized by Forbes in 2001 as “Best of the Web.”  Co-founded by Dr. Neild, Envestnet went public in the fall of 2010.

Deborah Nitka, manager with CohnReznick’s Cybersecurity and Privacy practice, has a passion for translating technical cyber and data privacy needs into strategic business decisions for her clients. Her expertise spans family offices, equity groups, and governmental and enterprise organizations across industries. Prior to joining CohnReznick, Deborah served as Chief of Staff for Business Systems Delivery at Moody’s, Client Delivery Manager at Neustar/Marketshare, and Director of Global Projects at Accessory Exchange. Deborah holds several degrees and certifications, including a Masters in Cybersecurity from Fordham University and CAE-CD from the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security.

With over 25 years of experience, Elisabeth Préfontaine is among the few who can claim to have traded both physical coupon bonds, and bitcoins. Her professional experience includes online banking, over-the-counter capital markets and investment funds. She is the former Head of Wealth Sales for BlackRock in Canada. Her academic profile includes the CFA, CAIA and MBA designations. Ms. Prefontaine is a free and forward-thinking individual whose bold assertions and confident, no-nonsense stance have branded her as a trailblazer. She is the founder of Octonomics, an independent research and consulting firm dedicated to financial technologies with a focus on the technology of Bitcoin.

Danielle Roseman, Managing Director and Co-Head of Lazard Family Office Services has joined Lazard as part of the recent acquisition of Truvvo Partners LLC into Lazard Family Office Partners. Danielle was previously a Partner at Truvvo, serving as the Head of Operations since 2013. In her role, she is focused on implementing operational processes and enhancing technology systems focused on serving Family Offices. Danielle began her career at Goldman Sachs, serving as an analyst on the Mortgage and Rates Middle Office desk and moving to Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she was a Vice President on the Fixed Income Operating Officer’s team from 2010-2013.

Daryl has led BITA Risk since 2004. He has full responsibility for the BITA product set, its roadmap and client engagement. Daryl has held executive and director roles at Credit Suisse Asset Management, M&G and Prudential Portfolio Managers. He was a founding director of the London Quant Group, a contributor to various investment books and is a member of the PIMFA Indices Committee.

Carolina Salazar has worked in the financial services industry for more than 20 years.  In 2001, Ms. Salazar joined WE’s predecessor, TBK Investments Inc.  She currently serves as WE’s Director of Reconciliation and Technology. In that capacity, Ms. Salazar is responsible for the digital transformation at WE. As an experienced software designer and engineer, she designs and implements the current core aggregation and reporting system that WE uses for its operation and the client portal. She is focused on continuing to evaluate current systems and procedures, improving them and implementing changes as necessary to maximize the organization’s performance in order to deliver value-adding effective and secure client services. In addition, Carolina manages a team that reconciles and performs quality control on clients’ monthly account statements and produces monthly consolidated reports in a timely and accurate manner.

Wendy has been a wealth management journalist, researcher and consultant for a decade, covering a huge range of international markets and sub-sectors over that time. Known as a technology and communications specialist, she has written an array of in-depth reports on issues affecting private banks and wealth managers, ranging from compliance and innovation trends through to client experience, branding and marketing strategies. As well as speaking at conferences in both the UK and abroad, Wendy also regularly consults for wealth and asset managers, including carrying out research projects among end H/UHNW clients for both internal and external purposes.

Jennifer Yap is a project management software consultant for single and multi-family offices, high-net-worth individuals, investment advisers, and hedge fund administrators. Her primary family office consulting focus has been on data integration, performance reporting, system review, and requirements development. She functions as an internal consultant to provide training, solve problems, implement solutions, and improve operational efficiencies. Prior to independent consulting, Jennifer was the Chief Operating Officer at a San Francisco-based RIA and multi-family office, where she oversaw day-to-day operations and the implementation of technology improvements for re-design and automation.
