A warm welcome to The Third Annual WealthBriefing Channel Islands Awards 2024. Independently judged by teams of experts, these awards will be bestowed on the brightest and best amongst the Channel Islands’ world-renowned wealth management professionals – both teams and individuals. With the backing of the WealthBriefing pedigree for independence and genuine insight, winning a WealthBriefing Channel Islands award gives exposure not only locally but in all the major wealth management jurisdictions in which WealthBriefing operates.

Judging
There are two judging panels for the awards.
This is to ensure that at all times commercially sensitive information is kept confidential and to avoid conflicts of interest.
- Panel of trusted advisors who will be responsible for judging the family office, private banking and investment categories.
- Panel of family office and banking professionals judge the trusted advisor and technology categories.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q) Does the entering firm or individual need to be a subscriber to WealthBriefing?
A) No, this program is open to all firms and individuals active in wealth management or the family office sectors.
Q) Can my firm enter more than one category?
A) Yes, we encourage firms to enter as many awards that are applicable to their business.
Q) Do I need to use the submission form provided?
A) Yes, submissions shall only be accepted when using this document.
Q) Is there any upfront cost to enter?
A) No, there is no upfront cost to enter, but you will be offered the chance to purchase a winner’s marketing package should you be successful. The judging process is completely independent of the commercial arrangements between the participants and the organisers. However it is expected that when the results are made public, winners will engage with the organisers to promote their win and also attend the awards ceremony to accept their trophy.
Q) Is the process open to firms that are not currently active within the Channel Islands?
A) The judges will only consider submissions from firms that are demonstrably active in the region. Please see here an overview of our global awards programmes.
Q) How do you ensure that the judging process is independent and impartial?
A) The Judges are independent of the award organisers ensuring they are divided into separate panels to avoid conflicts of interest.
Q) Can you assure me that any details that I submit will be treated with confidentiality?
A) We only share submissions with the panel responsible for judging those particular categories. Furthermore, our experienced team ensures that there is no conflict of interest before they share an entrant’s submission with anyone. All our judges have signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
Q) My submission is likely to be longer than the 1,000-word max limit. Would this disadvantage me?
A) We have set the limit out of respect to the judges and we are keen to maintain this to ensure that there is a level playing field between competing submissions. Judges reserve the right to refuse to review submissions that do not comply. We also encourage against attachments to the submissions.
Q) Do I need to submit a separate submission for each category?
A) You will need to do a new form for each submission and you should also ensure that this specifically relates to the category for which you are entering. If you are using the same answers for multiple submissions this could result in your entry being marked down by the judging panel.
Q) Where is the winner’s announcement shared?
A) The winners are announced publicly the day after the official awards celebration and this is via our editorial and social media platforms.
Q) Can I speak to anyone on the team about my entry?

Judges
Our global awards program is built on the independence of our judges. Each judge will have signed an NDA to ensure that all the information they receive in the submissions is kept in the strictest confidence.

Kate is an experienced financial services, banking and finance professional. As the Managing Partner of Voisin Law and Partner in charge of the Banking and Funds practices of Voisin, she advises on the establishment of investment vehicles ranging from single investor/corporate group structures to retail collective investment funds.
Kate’s regulatory and funds practice specialises in the legal, regulatory and corporate governance aspects of investment vehicles, collective investment funds, holding companies and managers. Kate and her team aim to provide practical, honest solutions to what are often complex legal and regulatory issues. They aim to take the worry out of setting up these structures.
Kate’s banking and finance practice focusses on advising on large corporate borrowing transactions, predominantly relating to commercial real estate groups borrowing from conventional lenders and debt funds. The debt is regularly £100m +, often involves 30+ corporate entities and multiple lenders providing senior and mezzanine debt at various points across the group.
Whilst Kate deals with a wide variety of investment vehicles from plain property investments to CLO’s, she has a particular interest in property holding structures, impact investment and Sharia’h compliant investment vehicles.
Henry Baye

UCC alumnus Henry Baye began his banking career as an International Graduate with Standard Chartered. Over the course of a storied 25-year career in the sector he has held leadership positions in Barclays Bank Ghana and Merchant Bank Ghana, gathering insights across a broad range of sectors. Henry’s areas of experience include distribution, wealth management and personal lending. His early work with Standard Chartered focused on delivering a wide range of initiatives for Ghana and the West Africa region, including leading transformation projects and the launch of Standard Chartered’s first ever digital bank in Cote D’Ivoire.
Henry was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank in Jersey in August 2019. Since his appointment he has helped to steer the bank through the COVID-19 crisis while remaining ever vigilant of the threat of financial and cybercrime.
Dominic Coyne

Fairway Group
Dominic is a Director of the Funds team at Fairway Group and leads on the majority of our Real Estate and regulated structures. His responsibilities include the establishment of funds and the provision of high quality administration.
With over 20 years’ experience in Jersey, Dominic joined Fairway from VG, where he was responsible for the Funds and Islamic Finance team. He brings considerable technical knowledge of Private Equity and Real Estate administration, including JPF structures and transactions involving Shariah-compliant financing.
He believes strongly that the development of a highly-motivated, qualified and committed team is the key to client satisfaction and both business and individual success. He will travel to meet with existing clients, potential clients and intermediaries and to attend industry events.
Steve Dyson

Steve is a founding director of Investment & Wealth Management Consultants (“IAWMC”) who provide a full spectrum of consulting services, from strategic advice through to delivery for wealth managers, private banks, family offices, asset managers, software vendors and service providers.
Steve has over 30 years’ experience in the Financial Services’ industry and has held senior positions in the Wealth Management sector as Operations Director for Schroders Private Bank and Head of Product Development for State Street's Wealth Manager Services division. In addition, he has worked at The Bank of New York
where he managed their enterprise level global banking relationships and at Citisoft Consultants where he was Head of European Business Development.
Steve is a regular keynote speaker at Wealth Management events and is often quoted in the press. He also serves on the judging panel for a number of prestigious industry awards covering the UK, Channel Islands and Switzerland and has been included in the Top 100 Most Influential People in Service Provision for Alternative
Investment Firms for the past 3 years.
By utilising his extensive network of contacts and market knowledge, Steve is able to add value to start-up & scale up Fintech companies and private equity organisations.
James Fleming

James Fleming has enjoyed a long career in banking and finance. He is currently a Non-Executive
Director and adviser to several small companies across the Wealth Management, Debt Advisory and
Commercial Real Estate sectors. Previously James was Head of International Private Banking at
Coutts & Co and then Chief Executive and Vice Chairman of Arbuthnot Latham & Co Limited. More
recently, he was Chief Executive of Sandaire, the Multi-Family Investment Office that was sold to
Schroders in December 2020. James started his career with Hambros Bank.

Sean Kiernan

Sean is the Founder and CEO of Greengage. He has extensive experience in financial services, having worked in various executive management positions. He founded Greengage after working at the first bank in the world to offer crypto products to clients, Falcon Private Bank, where he served as the COO and Interim CEO of the London operation until leaving to establish Greengage.
Prior to that he held management positions at Clariden Leu, a division of Credit Suisse, and Zurich Financial Services. Mr Kiernan has an MBA from the University of St. Gallen and a BSc from Georgetown University.
Michelle Le Hérissier

Michelle has had extensive experience in the last thirty years dealing with different markets and cultures in a number of jurisdictions globally which helps her to build solid, strong relationships with clients, intermediaries and her team. Her leadership skills were tested far beyond anything she could ever have imagined in September 2017 when the British Virgin Islands were hit by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. This required strong leadership to motivate and support the team, all of whom reacted to the disaster in different ways, to provide uninterrupted client service and manage a disparate team in different parts of the globe until the local office was up and running again. Business Continuity Planning is now one of Michelle’s specialties. Michelle is passionate about providing clients with a personalized level of service going back to the old values of trust management that she learned from her father as a Trustee, whilst at the same time understanding and balancing the needs of the business and managing risk.

Edward is founder and Managing Director of Integritas Wealth Partners. Edward graduated from the University of Exeter with BSC (Hons) in Mathematics. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Edward holds a variety of professional qualifications including the CISI Masters in Wealth Management and the STEP Diploma in International Trust Management.
Edward has over ten years of Wealth Management experience, working with private clients and intermediaries in developing investment and holistic wealth solutions. Before establishing Integritas Wealth Partners, Edward’s most recent role had been as a Director in the investments department of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Wealth Management, moving to Jersey in 2013 from RBC’s London office.

Phil McIlwraith is the Branch Manager for SG Kleinwort Hambros Bank Limited, Jersey Branch. Phil joined the Kleinwort Hambros Group in 1990. He has held senior management roles in various areas, including Treasury, Investment Management, Risk, Fiduciary and Commercial, both in Jersey and in London. Phil was appointed CEO in December 2021. Phil is a member of the boards of SG Kleinwort Hambros Bank Limited and SG Kleinwort Hambros Trust Co (CI) Ltd. Phil is also a member of the Executive Committee of SG Kleinwort Hambros. Phil holds a first class BsC in Financial Services from the University of Manchester, and is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI.
Outside of work, Phil enjoys watching and playing many other sports. Phil is married with two children and is a keen reader, amateur meteorologist and an occasional writer of fiction.
Robert Monticelli

Robert is a Senior Director within JTC’s Private Client Services division and is responsible for a team that manages a
diverse portfolio of high net worth international clients.
He has a strong focus on client service and oversees a number of structures incorporating various asset types
ranging from real estate to yachts and aircraft. Robert’s role also encompasses business development in Southern
Africa, where he carries out a regular visitation programme.
Robert is an experienced trust and estate practitioner with over 35 years’ experience in the financial services sector,
of which nearly 20 were spent working with AIB Trust in Jersey.
Elizabeth Shaw

Elizabeth Shaw is a Trust Director at Affinity Private Wealth where she manages key client relationships and leads sustainable initiatives within the fiduciary business.
Elizabeth’s focus is on understanding clients’ requirements and aspirations and providing advice founded on trust and clear communication, ensuring their assets are preserved and enhanced across generations. She also embodies Affinity's values of aligning interests with clients and maintaining a commitment to sustainability.
Elizabeth began her career in Scotland, gaining extensive experience as a private client lawyer both onshore and offshore. With an LLB Bachelor of Laws (with options in Accountancy) degree, STEP qualification as a Trust and Estate Practitioner, and initial investment exams under her belt, Elizabeth’s technical training is extremely well rounded. She is renowned among intermediaries for her technical expertise and her ability to explain complex issues clearly to private clients.
Having a keen interest in developing and recognising talent, Elizabeth thrives on mentoring and coaching her team. She taught the Private Client course on the Scottish Diploma in Legal Practice before relocating to Jersey and is delighted to have the opportunity to support and recognise local Jersey businesses and individuals.

Victoria has significant expertise advising on the establishment, administration, financing, disposal and termination of a wide range of Jersey trust and corporate structures. She has particular expertise in commercial trusts and real estate investment vehicles, including JPUTs, having acted for several sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and private equity firms on their indirect investment in UK commercial real estate utilising Jersey entities.
Victoria begun her legal career with Crill Canavan in 1998 and qualified as a Jersey lawyer with the firm in 2001. She then joined Ogier where she became a partner in 2013 before establishing her own law firm in 2014.
She graduated from Exeter University in 1998 with a first class degree in Law, qualified as a Jersey solicitor in 2001 and was sworn in as an advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey in 2005.
Victoria was a Committee member of the Jersey Association of Trust Companies for a number of years and is a full member of STEP.
