The panels of judges are drawn from both private banks and trusted advisors/consultants to the sector who advise the Editorial Team at WealthBriefing. As in previous years independence, integrity and genuine insight are crucial to the judging process.
In order to avoid a conflict of interest the final decision is made by an independent team of domain experts who have reported daily on developments in the region for over 17 years.
Winning an Award
Winning a WealthBriefing Award sets organisations and individuals apart from their peers. The award is a tangible demonstration that the winners have something special to offer, rewarding achievement and showcasing top class performance and innovation.

With more than 31 years’ banking experience in the UAE, Mannan Adenwalla assumed the role of managing director of private banking and asset management group, LGT (Middle East) in 2012. Mannan had previously been managing director of Clariden Leu Asset Management, Dubai which he set up and then led for six years.
Before this he worked for ABN AMRO Bank, where he managed his clients and a team of relationship managers for nearly ten years. Having begun his career in the banking industry in 1984, Mannan’s responsibilities at LGT include developing the business across non-resident Indian and subcontinent markets.

Patrick joined Deutsche Bank Wealth Management Dubai in 2019 as a director, from his previous position as senior vice president at DBS Private Banking Dubai. In his new role Patrick aims to exploit his reputation as a trusted advisor with entrepreneurial families to help drive the bank’s growth in the ultra-high net worth NRI private client segments, principally in the ME and Africa. Patrick’s 20-plus years’ experience in the sector began at Allied Irish Banks where he rose through the ranks to head up its deposit-taking unit in Jersey. His subsequently moved to BNP Paribas, then Bank of Nova Scotia before joining ABN AMRO Jersey where he rose to become head of private banking and later its country head. He moved to Dubai to join Lombard Odier in 2012.

Gary Dugan is CEO of The Global CIO Office and of Asset Manager, Purple Asset Management based in Singapore.
Gary Dugan is a seasoned investment professional with 37 years’ experience working in Managing Director roles at some of the world’s leading Banks and Wealth Managers.
For the past twenty years he has held Chief Investment Officer roles manging money for institutions such as sovereign wealth funds through to Ultra- High Net Worth clients. For the core of Gary’s career (1993-2004) he worked at JPMorgan. Subsequently he held CIO roles at Barclays, Merrill Lynch in Europe, and Emirates NBD and NBAD in the Middle East
Gary is well-known in the industry for his outspoken but often-timely call on financial markets. He has a track record of calling the markets crashes of 1987 and 2007 and the tech wreck of 2000. But he also saw the upside in markets advising clients at Merrill Lynch to buy equities on March 17th, 2009 within two days of the market low. More recently he was advising extreme caution on markets in early February 2020.
His views are widely featured on TV and quoted in the financial media. He regularly speaks at investment conferences throughout, the Middle East and Asia. In 2015, he was awarded GCC Private Banker of the year by Wealth Briefing

Vipul Kapur joined Mashreq as the Head of Private Banking after 25 years with Citibank. Over the last 3 ½ years, in addition to heading the Mashreq Private Bank, he is also responsible for the bank’s Wealth Products & Platform.
Vipul has significant experience in building businesses, managing change, strategic development, mentoring fintech start-ups, implementing technology platforms & nurturing leadership talent.
His banking career has spanned Consumer Banking and Private Wealth Management. At Citi, he was responsible for establishing new markets in MENA & Europe and heading several international businesses including the Global NRI Wealth business, the Consumer Bank for UK and the Citi IPB, Private client wealth business for EMEA.
During his tenure at Citi, he set up the first 3rd party mutual fund distribution tie-ups and developed specialized fixed income products to be offered through the bank’s distribution channels. He also developed & grew the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) business Private wealth business in UAE before going on to manage the Global NRI Business.
As head of the UK Consumer & IPB private wealth business for EMEA he was responsible for managing and developing a long-term growth strategy for the two businesses including restructuring the businesses to a digital best-in-class wealth business for affluent clients across EMEA.
He has worked across several countries and regions including India, Singapore, Dubai, Bahrain and most recently London.

Stela comes from over 16 years of experience in the global financial markets and banking services in Western Europe and the Middle East. She is currently heading Index & Cie, a DFSA-regulated wealth manager, practitioner of the Value Investing philosophy applied to permanent capital of HNWIs. Her management style and ideas brought about a radical change and new drive to Index & Cie in ever-changing market conditions in the UAE and globally.
Prior to her current CEO position, Stela held multiple senior leadership roles for National Bank of Abu Dhabi, now First Abu Dhabi Bank, and acted as Chief Operating Officer for boutique wealth managers in Dubai. She began her career with Citigroup in 2002 in Milan, Italy, where she spent more than 10 years in the Global Transaction Services covering various operational and managerial positions.

Martin Liebi has vast senior management experience in the banking and financial sectors with Swiss and international clients in all parts of Switzerland. Prior to his present role he was a member of the executive committee and head of private banking at Notenstein La Roche Privatebank. Here he successfully managed various growth projects related to private clients whilst strengthening its offices in Switzerland. Before that role he was for seven years a member of the executive committee, head of the Zurich office and head of private banking at Schroders Switzerland, where he was in charge of the entire Swiss and international private client base. Martin has also worked with Lloyds TSB Bank in Geneva, and with Credit Suisse in Lugano.

Prior to joining Liechtensteinische Landesbank as head of private banking ME in 2017, Ludovic was head of MENA at Falcon Bank since 2014. Ludovic launched his career in banking at Credit Suisse in 1989 where he stayed for 17 years. Over this time he rose through various senior appointments eventually to become head of Far East private banking for CS Geneva. In 2006 he moved to create the Geneva Booking Center FE/ME at Julius, becoming executive director of its Middle East ISC operation in 2008. In 2011 Ludovic was appointed CEO of Mirabaud Private Bank (Middle East), a role he grew until his appointment at Falcon Private Bank.
Bruce is a chartered accountant with over 37 years financial services experience, previously a partner in PwC, latterly as Global leader of their Wealth Management practice and the key driver of their bi-annual Wealth Management Report. Bruce is now CEO of Weatherill Consulting providing advice on client centricity and wider strategic matters to wealth managers. He is the author of The Value of Trust: the quest by Wealth Managers for Trusted Advisor status and a number of other thought leadership reports. Bruce is chairman of ClearView Financial Media and a non-executive of a number of companies including Fidelity Holdings UK, The Wisdom Council, ComPeer, JDX Consulting and Ten Group.
Daniel Williams is investment director for the British private bank Arbuthnot Latham and is head of investments for the bank’s Dubai office in the DIFC. Daniel joined Arbuthnot Latham in 2011 from a boutique investment house in London and has over 12 years’ experience working with International Investors. Having travelled in to the region since the opening of Arbuthnot’s office in 2013 he moved to the UAE in 2015 in order to provide full time support to clients in the region. Daniel is responsible for the investment outlook for HNW, UHNW, family office and trusts in the GCC and sits on the global investment committee for the bank.

Ismael Hajjar leads the MENA Private Client Services (PCS) practice of EY Middle East. In his role, Ismael focuses on assisting successful families, entrepreneurs and family offices across MENA managing risks and preserving wealth.
Ismael has been serving international families for over 13 years and currently acts as trusted advisor to a number of successful families across MENA. Patricia started her career as a civil law notary before joining ABN Amro Trust as a legal officer. Patricia acted as a Private Director for numerous clients and has experience in the field of Securitisation, Escrow and Agency, establishment and maintenance of a variety of cross-border structures both for corporate as well as estate planning purposes. Patricia re-joined Intertrust in January 2018 as Managing Director responsible for the Dubai office (Corporate Services). She successfully set up the Abu Dhabi office in 2019 and subsequently expanded the service offering to now include Fund Administration and PWM services. Patricia is a full member of STEP as well as a founding member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) DIFC Chapter and a CIMA registered Director. Jacques-Antoine is the Chief Operating Officer of BNP Paribas Wealth Management Middle East & Africa (MEA) since early 2019. He is based in Dubai from where he oversees the regional operations of the MEA market.
Before joining BNP Paribas, he was the Head of Business Management for the Global South Asia and Middle East business for Bank of Singapore in Dubai. Prior to that, Jacques-Antoine spent more than 11 years at Barclays in their Wealth Management division across Europe and the Middle East.
Jacques-Antoine brings over 15+ years of experience gained across multiples roles within the front, back and product office. Having started his career in law firms, Jacques-Antoine holds a LLM in International Business Law from the University of Lyon and a MSc in Finance & Law from EM Lyon Business School.

Craig has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry globally, having held senior management positions in fund management firms, investment banking and fund administration. He is keenly involved in the development of practices and the landscape of the financial services sector and his expertise and advice is often sought by major stakeholders in the sector.
Prior to joining Apex, Craig was Senior Executive Officer with RoC Capital Management (Dubai) Ltd. and responsible for developing the firm to manage fund structures based in a variety of jurisdictions and covering a full range of investment strategies and structures. Craig also served as a Director with Sanne Group Dubai Limited. where he was responsible for the group's open-ended fund administration service. Other earlier roles included Chief Financial Officer at United Investment Bank Limited and Chief Executive Officer at Apex Fund Services (Dubai) Ltd. where he established the first fund administration provider to be approved by the DFSA.
