Rod is Managing Director of LendInvest Capital, the funds management division of LendInvest, the world's largest marketplace lender for real estate. LendInvest is bringing technology to the £1.2 trillion UK mortgage market, which has to date been an entirely offline market. LendInvest spun out of Montello, an offline short-term mortgage lender, in 2013 as the first marketplace lender to allow retail investors the opportunity to invest in a mortgage. Today LendInvest investors have lent over £640 million against over 2,300 properties making LendInvest one of the fastest-growing (and most profitable) marketplace platforms in the world. The company also has significant institutional backing; in the summer of 2015, LendInvest received the largest Series A investment in a UK FinTech business, receiving £22m ($34m) from listed Chinese technology business Beijing Kunlun. More recently, in March 2013, LendInvest secured a £17m ($25m) Series B investment from Atomico, the VC fund led by Skype founder, Niklas Zennstrom. LendInvest Capital is a leading UK real estate fund manager (regulated by the FCA), offering two funds and managing a number of committed bank funding lines and managed accounts. The business has grown significantly over recent years and now has assets under management in excess of £300m, with investments in short-term real estate backed loans, joint ventures and co-investments. Before joining LendInvest in spring 2015, Rod was a Senior Director at CBRE in the capital advisory business.
